WHAT WE DO
Following the medical maxim “prevention is better than cure”, Life and Hope are committed to preventing human trafficking.
Long lasting
This work of prevention may have less of a public image than rescue and rehabilitation, but working quietly in the background can have a greater and longer-lasting effect on the overall rates of human trafficking.
Cost effective
Prevention is often more cost effective than treatment, and in the case of human trafficking it means that many individuals will never experience the trauma of being caught up in this illegal trade of human lives. And it means that many families will be able to avoid being torn apart by this inhuman industry.
Educate the young
Education of young people who are at risk of accepting offers of attractive-looking jobs, which promise good pay and abetter future, often in other countries, but jobs which don’t really exist. They often find themselves working in areas they had not expected, such as forced labour or the sex trade, for little or no pay and few chances to escape.
Educate the parents
Education of parents, especially mothers, to enable them to take control of their own finances and thus not fall prey to traffickers who often find their victims among the vulnerable and poor.
